Science on Stage 2 – tapahtuma

järjestetään 2.-6.4.2007 Grenoblessa Ranskassa. Lisätietoa saa tapahtuman kansainväkisiltä internet-sivuilta osoitteessa www.scienceonstage.net.

Noin 400 opettajaa eri puolilta Eurooppaa kokoontuvat esittelemään omia ideoitaan ja vaihtamaan kokemuksiaan tavoitteenaan luonnontieteiden opetuksen kehittäminen monipuolisemmaksi ja kiinnostavammaksi.

Osallistujat esittelevät töitään messuosastolla sekä lavalla. Heillä on mahdollisuus vuorovaikutukseen toisten opettajien sekä tieteilijöiden kanssa. Mielenkiintoisimmat materiaalit ja projektit palkitaan SOS2 – tapahtuman lopuksi (European Science Teaching Awards). Tapahtuma sisältää monenlaisia aktiviteetteja, kuten performance-esitykset, demonstraatiot, työpajat sekä näyttelyosaston esitykset. Jokainen päivä rakentuu yhden teeman mukaisesti, alkaen aamulla teeman esittelyllä ja päättyen iltaisin yhteissessioon ja palautteen antamiseen.

Report of the Finnish National Event “Science on Stage Finland”

The Finnish national event took place in Aurinkolahti Comprehensive School in Helsinki on Saturday 18.11.2006.

The National Steering Committee got the proposal for this contest from eight teachers in the southern part of Finland. NSC organised the national event with many kinds of activities related to the development of physics teaching. After the registration and coffee we had an opening ceremony. On behalf of the National Steering Committee, PhD Irma Hannula wished all the participants very welcome and expressed best regards from the chairperson of the Committee, Counsellor of Education in the National Board of Education, Mr. Jari Koivisto.

Instead of the general lecture, a film from the Physics on Stage 3 in Holland in 2003 was presented. The organisers wanted to give a nice picture of the international festival to those of the participants who never have visited this kind of motivating and inspiring event. The teachers, i.e. the competitors, presented very interesting ideas in teaching science in a very innovative and motivated method. Before the lunch, all the proposals of the projects were presented. The NSC made the evaluation and the selection of the delegates. The result of this contest was delivered to the participants next week by email.

The NSC was very delighted with the great interest in the Finnish national event and with the high level of the presentations. The members of the NSC want to thank all the presenters and the public for the very wonderful and educative event. Many thanks will also be given to the co-operating institutions for their financial support.
